MANSELL TO RACE A BENETTON IN EUROBOSS!
Seventeen year old Scott Mansell will become the youngest British racing driver to drive a Formula One car in competition when he races a 770bhp Benetton in the EuroBOSS Championship at Donington Park on Sunday 5th October.
Scott, from Tamworth, Staffordshire, will drive the ex-F1 Benetton V10 4 litre, formerly driven by Jean Alesi, as he looks to further advance his racing career. A pupil of Bishop Vesey Boys Grammar School, Sutton Coldfield, he received his MSA International C racing licence at the age of 16 and whilst he has gained experience across a range of single-seaters the Benetton is at least 250bhp more powerful and, with a top speed of 190mph, significantly quicker than anything else he has driven to-date.
Scott Mansell commented "This opportunity came at short notice and I jumped at the chance. Who wouldn't? I was able to test in the car last week and was surprised by just how comfortable it felt. The power is awesome and took some getting used to before I was at racing pace. I've a test session on Friday and will use the track time to continue to improve my times. Donington is my local circuit and in Sunday's Zig Zag Super Prix I'll have lots of support and will be determined to perform well as a thank you to all those people who have supported my racing career."
