|Donington Park, UK, Sunday 5th October 2003: Klaas Zwart extended his Championship lead with back-to-back victories in the EuroBOSS Championship double-header at Donington Park. In the first race, round 5, he had to claw back the lead from eighteen year old Scott Mansell who looked set to record a sensational victory in his Benetton after taking advantage of an early spin by Zwart. The intervention of the pace car, following a collision between Matthew Mortlock and Frank Lyons, brought the field together and much to the disappointment of the partisan crowd, the local lad was unable to hold off Zwart and Nick Dhalli in their Ascari Judds. The gap between Mansell and Dhalli at the finish was less than a cars length.
Mansell took his revenge in round 6, emphatically beating Dhalli to take second place, in the process posting several sub 60 second laps and embarking on a slick overtaking manoeuvre, proving to everyone that he is a considerable talent.
"It was fantastic to drive the Benetton. It is so much easier to drive than an F3000 and gave me so much confidence even though I was scared stiff on the start line until the light went green. Now its back to school tomorrow with business studies for my first two lessons".
