|Scott Mansell has been chosen as a finalist in the 2004 McLaren Autosport BRDC Young Driver of the Year Award.
A panel of experts, comprising of British Racing Drivers' Club secretary Roger Lane-Nott, ex grand prix racer Howden Ganley, former award winner Andrew Kirkaldy, veteran commentator Ian Titchmarsh and Autosport's Marcus Pye have selected the six drivers from the list of nominees voted for by Autosport readers.
The six finalists who will fight it out for a prized McLaren Formula 1 test drive are:
- Tim Bridegman (Formula BMW GB champion)
- Mike Conway (Formula Renault UK champion)
- Paul Di Resta (Formula Renault UK race winner)
- Jonathan Kennard (Formula Palmer Audi champion)
- Scott Mansell (EuroBOSS champion)
- Susie Stoddart (Formula Renault frontrunner)
The drivers will be evaluated over the course of two days at Silverstone in a variety of machinery, including the latest spec Dallara Formula 3 cars. With the winner being announced at the Autosport Awards Ceremony held at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London on December 6th.
Among the previous winners of the award, now in its 16th year, are Formula One drivers David Coulthard and Jenson Button, DTM driver Gary Paffett and IRL IndyCar Series star, Dario Franchitti. The title was won last year by Alex Lloyd.
